About Boys & Girls Club

  • What is Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Salt Lake?
Boys & Girls Clubs provides high-quality enrichment for kids 3 - 18 years old during out-of-school hours and summertime. We use our resources and skills to provide experiences for kids. By bringing youth to Club, they will receive academic assistance, social-emotional learning lessons, healthy meals, and more. We can lift entire communities by providing youth a safe place to advance themselves while caregivers pursue their careers, further their education and keep their homes in order before school, after school, and during the summertime.. • Where are your Clubs located, and what ages do you serve?
We have 7 Club buildings to serve youth:1 in Midvale, 1 in Murray, 3 in Salt Lake City serving Rose Park, Fairpark, Downtown, Sugar House, South Salt Lake, Glendale, & Poplar Grove, 1 in Tooele, and 1 in Price serving Price, Wellington, & Helper. Our Club Support Center, the administration office, is located in Murray. To see if your area has a Club nearby, you can visit this page: Find A Club
  • What programs do you offer?

We focus our programming based on years of research and best practices aimed at optimizing youth development. These pillars are endorsed by Boys & Girls Clubs of America and emphasize 4 main areas we believe give youth the skills they need: Health & Wellbeing, Character & Leadership, Academic Success, and Life & Workforce Readiness.

To teach Health & Wellbeing skills we offer daily physical activity like sports and games, healthy habits like nutritious cooking, social-emotional skill-building lessons, and teen-focused lessons on healthy dating and intimacy.

We provide youth-led leadership and community service through Torch & Keystone Club as well as throughout the year, like the annual Halloween events that youth lead.

Our STEM & Academic directors create programming designed to help kids stay excited about school and learning new things. We have computer labs at all of our Club locations and provide weekly STEM activities and lessons geared toward 21st-century learning skills at all 7 sites.

Our staff will also get involved with graduation and beyond, helping youth plan for their future and connecting them with community partners who can offer internships and opportunities. They also partner with other organizations to teach financial literacy skills and set up kids for success.

  • What makes Boys & Girls Club different from other afterschool programs?
Unlike traditional afterschool programs, we focus on long-term mentorship, leadership development, and life skills while providing a fun and safe space for youth. Our staff are trained youth development professionals dedicated to making a lasting impact. We do not add fees for food, STEM lessons, and keep field trip costs as low as possible to ensure every child has access to our resources.

Membership & Enrollment

  • How do I enroll my child in the Club?

The best way to enroll in Club is to visit in person and speak to the Membership Coordinator at the front desk. Dates are subject to change, but school year registration starts the last week of July, and summer registration starts the last week of May. These are open until the Club is full or registration for the next part of the year begins.

There is a form to fill out ensuring we have everything we need about your youth’s allergies, needs, photo release, and demographic information. We also employ strict confidentiality and privacy policies regarding the security of personally identifiable information and prohibit the release of that information to outside individuals or agencies.

  • How much does it cost to attend the Club?
We only cost $20 per child for the school year, and $20 for the summer. Some of our Clubs also offer childcare for ages 3-5, for $145 a week or less. We never want finances to prohibit a youth from participating in Club and we work with families to provide scholarships and ensure they are able to attend Club regardless of circumstances.
  • What are the Clubs' hours of operation?
During the school year Clubs are open 3 pm - 6:30 pm for youth 1st - 12th grade. During the summer those hours are 9 am - 6:30 pm. Some of our Clubs offer full and half-day childcare from 6:30 am - 6:30 pm, please check your Club’s page to see if they do.
  • Do you offer transportation from schools to the Club?
Yes, you can see which schools are available for pick-up on the Club’s page. If you don’t see your school as a pickup location, let your Club Director know and we will make our best efforts to see if other youth at that school are interested in pick-up and add it to the bus schedule.

Safety & Policies

  • What safety measures do you have in place for youth?

Boys & Girls Club is a safe and fun place for youth to go after school and during the summer. We make sure staff are trained and capable of helping kids in the best way possible by implementing a code of conduct. This code of conduct covers interactions between staff and youth, transportation, incident reports, technology use, and more.

  • How do you handle emergencies or medical situations?
