Benefiting Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Salt Lake

Over 400 of Salt Lake City's most generous citizens attended the Great Futures Gala: Throwback to Give Back benefitting Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Salt Lake this past Saturday.

This year's gala focused on celebrating decades of Great Futures. The community came together to support our future leaders and recognize the growth of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Salt Lake. Yoaltici, the 2023 Greater Salt Lake Youth of the Year and member of the Midvale Boys & Girls Club, shared how her Teen Director made a direct impact on her life. Yoaltici said she was not a born leader, but she was nurtured into being one. Her Teen Director made room at Club to make mistakes and grow from them, gave Yoaltici opportunities to take on responsibility when she was ready for it, and encouraged her to join programs that allowed her to engage in service to her community. Yoaltici found her ability to be a leader. She is graduating high school now as President of the teen leadership club, Torch Club.

Beyond this, the evening was filled with fabulous auction prizes, a delicious meal, and dancing, all to benefit our community's youth. The event was emceed by CJ Drisdom from Changing Lanes Entertainment. 70 youth from all 7 Clubs came to kick off dinner with a dance medley to songs from the 60s to today. They lit up the whole room with their enthusiasm and the audience was clapping and dancing along to our youth's outstanding performances. It perfectly illustrates why we come together for the Great Futures Gala; to support our community's kids while they work hard to become their best selves. CJ made sure the youth got to take a big final bow to thunderous applause from the crowd.

This incredible event raised more than $387,000; these proceeds will provide academic support, meal programs, leadership lessons, and more to youth at seven Club locations throughout Salt Lake, Carbon, and Tooele Counties. This retro evening allowed anyone to support Great Futures for our community's youth.

The 2023 Great Futures Gala is sponsored by: Title Sponsor – Hansen HVAC Heating & Cooling; Presenting Sponsors – Quality Steel, Lightspark Foundation, Elevate Private Wealth Advisors; Gold Sponsors – MasterControl, Tim & Candace Dee, Comcast, Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation, Alicia Garcia, IsoTalent, Trebor International (IDEX), AMEX, and Quillen Construction

About Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Salt Lake

Boys & Girls Clubs of America is widely recognized as a leading and trusted youth service organization. In 1967, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Salt Lake partnered with local communities to bring the impact of this renowned organization to local families by opening Utah's first Club sites in Murray and Sugar House. Since then, we have continued to respond to our communities' needs by expanding to areas with the highest demand for our services, including launching a Capital Campaign in 2018 with updated and new facilities. Today, we serve more than 5,600 members, ages 3-18, annually at seven Club locations across Salt Lake, Tooele, and Carbon Counties. At our Clubs, kids are given opportunities to succeed in safe and supportive environments that blend evidence-based practices with high-impact programming, state-of-the-art facilities, and caring professionals. Our mission is to inspire and empower youth, families, and communities to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens.
