How We Help Kids
Boys & Girls Clubs give kids opportunities to succeed through programs that truly impact their lives. We help Club members:
- Graduate from high school on time with a plan for the future
- Engage in healthy behaviors and becoming fit for life
- Develop strong character and become engaged citizens
We help kids realize these outcomes by providing focused programs in three core areas: Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Good Character & Citizenship.
Club Services
Boys & Girls Clubs offer kids access to the following services:
- Homework help and tutoring
- Computer labs
- Gyms and sports (including full-size gyms at most locations)
- Field trips
- Arts
- Games
- Help with college applications
- Character and leadership development
- Career exploration and development
Academic Success
Academic programs provide young people with educational support and career development. Some of these programs include:
Power Hour
Our flagship academic success program that includes daily homework help and tutoring for all Club members.
Club Tech
Provides Club members access to high quality technology, STEM learning activities, and 21st century skills development.
Goals for Graduation
Supports teens with academic mentorship, career planning, college admissions, and post-graduate decisions making.
FLiP (Financial Literacy Program
Introduces money management concepts like saving, investing, and entrepreneurship.
Healthy Lifestyles
Clubs helps youth stay healthy and fit by providing at least 30 minutes of fitness opportunites and a healthy snack to every Club member, every day, in addition to the following initatives:
Triple Play
Helps kids make physical fitness a daily practice by offering fun daily challenges, games, and exercise opportunities.
Healthy Habits
Teaches kids about proper nutrition and gives them the opportunity to try new healthy foods. Cooking classes are even offered for teen members.
Club Adventure
Provides kids access to outdoor recreation opportunities like biking, hiking, indoor and outdoor rock climbing, swimming, fishing, and more.
SMART Moves
A drug, alcohol, and tobacco resistance skills training program.
Good Character & Citizenship
Good Character & Citizenship programs empower youth to support and influence there community, develop a positive self-image, and sustain meaningful relationships with others. These programs include:
Torch Club
A leadership group for kids ages nine through 12 where young leaders plan and implement Club and community service activities.
Keystone Club
An advanced leadership group for teens ages 13 through 17 where young leaders plan and implement Club and community service activities.
Youth of the Year
A program recognizing Club members for their service to family, school, community, and Club. Many of our Youth of the Year candidates have been recognized in the news for their accomplishments.
